LEGALISATION
What is Legalisation?
Legalisation simply means confirming that a signature,
seal or stamp appearing on a document is genuine.
Why documents need to be legalised?
The signatures or seals of British public officials
(such as solicitors, notaries public, registrars) on
certain documents from the United Kingdom have to be
confirmed before those documents can be accepted in
Turkey.
Documents to be legalised by the
Consulate:
Many types of documents can be apostilled by Foreign
and Commonwealth Office and are exempt from certification
by this Consulate.
Documents, which are not covered
by the said Convention (such as documents executed
by diplomatic or consular agents or administrative documents
dealing directly with commercial or customs operations),
should initially be legalised by the Turkish-British
Chamber of Commerce and Industry or a local chamber
of commerce. Thereafter, the legalised document(s)
should be submitted to the Consulate with a photocopy
(of each page). Please make sure that photocopies are
made after you have them legalised by a chamber.
For exceptions and details please see:
CONVENTION ABOLISHING THE REQUIREMENT OF LEGALISATION
FOR FOREIGN PUBLIC DOCUMENTS at http://www.hcch.net/e/conventions/text12e.html
LEGALISATION
FEE:
The legalisation fee is £ 9 per document.
However, there is an additional fee for the invoices
of goods to be exported. This fee is calculated
as follows:
Fee= Total amount of invoice (in pounds)
x 0.0018 x 1.25 (decimal points are rounded up to full
pound).
Documents to be legalised in annex
to/accompanying invoices for goods to be exported, should
also be legalised separately. The fee for this kind of legalisation
is £ 9 (for the document) + the amount (for
the invoice) to be calculated as shown above.
"Please note that while writing a cheque, all totals must be rounded-up to nearest pound in full."
Examples:
£14.65 should be £15.00
£16.25 should be £16.00
Please note that legalisation
fee is non-refundable.
